German Chocolate Cheese Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c packed brown sugar .
  • 1/4 c brown sugar .
  • 2 c whipped topping .
  • 4 oz bar sweet baking chocolate (German) .
  • 5 tbsps melted butter .
  • 1 dash salt .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 1/2 c water .
  • 4 c corn flakes, crushed (to 1 c.) .
  • 8 oz cream cheese

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 300F degrees.
  • Step #2 Butter or grease a pie plate.
  • Step #3 Mix crushed Corn Flakes, 1/4 c brown sugar & melted butter; press into plate.
  • Step #4 Bake 10 mins.
  • Step #5 Cool.
  • Step #6 For filling, heat water & chocolate over low heat/flame until melted.
  • Step #7 Stir constantly.
  • Step #8 Let cool for 10 mins.
  • Step #9 Mix in large bowl the cream cheese & brown sugar.
  • Step #10 Add vanilla & salt.
  • Step #11 Slowly add chocolate into cheese mixture.
  • Step #12 Mix to incorporate, by hand or with mixer.
  • Step #13 Refrigerate for 1 hr until very thick.
  • Step #14 Whip cream into stiff peaks.
  • Step #15 Fold whipped cream into chocolate mixture & pour this into crust.
  • Step #16 Freeze for 4 hrs or overnight.
  • Step #17 Can be doubled if you use a 9 x 13 inch dish.
