Cornbread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c sugar .
  • 1 1/2 tsps baking powder .
  • 1 c buttermilk .
  • 3/4 c flour .
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten .
  • 1 1/4 c yellow cornmeal .
  • 2 tbsps honey .
  • 1 tsp kosher salt .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla .
  • 1/4 c melted butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Set the oven at 350 degrees.
  • Step #2 Grease an 8 by 8 inch baking pan with shortening.
  • Step #3 Pop the pan in the oven to heat while you're mixing up the corn bread.
  • Step #4 Mix the cornmeal, baking powder, flour, sugar, baking soda & salt in a bowl.
  • Step #5 Whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, vanilla & melted butter in another bowl.
  • Step #6 Pour the wet ingredients into the dry & give them a good stir, just till everything is moistened.
  • Step #7 Pull the hot greased pan from the oven & pour in the batter.
  • Step #8 Bake for 25 to 30 mins or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  • Step #9 Take the corn bread out of the oven & brush the top this with honey.
  • Step #10 Cool for 10 mins in the pan before cutting into squares.
