Beurek With Parsley-cheese Filling Recipe

Ingredients
  • Filling .
  • 2 eggs .
  • 2 tbsps melted butter .
  • 1 tbsp dry yeast (1 package) .
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened .
  • 1/4 c sliced fresh basil .
  • 1 c grated feta .
  • 2 c flour .
  • 1 c grated muenster cheese .
  • sliced chives (optional) .
  • 3 garlic cloves, pressed .
  • fresh ground black pepper .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1 egg .
  • Dough .
  • 1 tsp honey .
  • 3/4 c warm water .
  • 1 c shredded mozzarella cheese .
  • sesame seeds (optional) .
  • Glaze .
  • 3/4 c sliced fresh parsley

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine dough ingredients in bread machine according to manufacturers directions.
  • Step #2 Process on dough cycle.
  • Step #3 While dough is rising, mix the cheeses by mashing the cream cheese well with a fork or potato masher & mixing in the other cheeses.
  • Step #4 Stir in the rest of the filling ingredients.
  • Step #5 When dough is finished rising, divide it into 8 pieces.
  • Step #6 Roll the pices of dough into smooth balls, place them on a lightly floured board, & cover for 15 mins.
  • Step #7 Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Step #8 Roll out each ball of dough into a circle about 7 inches in diameter.
  • Step #9 Place a generous 1/3 c of cheese filling on the lower half of each circle.
  • Step #10 Moisten the lower edge of the dough with water.
  • Step #11 Fold the upper half down over the filling & press the edges together with a wet fork to seal.
  • Step #12 Arrange the beureks on a buttered baking sheet so that their edges do not overlap.
  • Step #13 Seal any holes by pinching the dough together.
  • Step #14 Beat the egg with a tbsp of water & brush it on the pastries to give them a nice glaze.
  • Step #15 Sprinkle top the beureks with sesame seeds or sliced chives, if you like.
  • Step #16 Bake the beureks for 15-20 mins, until golden brown with slightly crisp edges.
  • Step #17 Serve hot.
