Merridee's Swedish Coleslaw Recipe

Ingredients

1 medium onion (sliced fine) (optional) .
1 quart cabbage (shredded) .
1 c sugar .
1/2 c water .
1/2 c cider vinegar .
4 tsps salt .
2 c water .
1 tsp celery seeds

Directions

Step #1 Soak cabbage & onion in a brine of the 2 c water & 4 tsps salt for 1/2 hr.
Step #2 Drain & rinse briefly.
Step #3 Cook together & cool the sugar, water, vinegar & celery seed.
Step #4 Add dressing to drained cabbage & store this in tightly covered container in refrigerator.
