Chocolate Walnut Cake With Cocoa Glaze Recipe

Ingredients
  • Cocoa Glaze .
  • 1 c flour .
  • 1/2 c water .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1 egg .
  • 2 tsps vanilla .
  • 3 c powdered sugar .
  • 1/2 c butter (1 stick) .
  • decorating icing, any color (optional) .
  • 1/4 c butter (1/2 stick) .
  • 1/3 c sour cream .
  • 3 tbsps cocoa powder .
  • 1 c sugar .
  • 1/2 c cocoa powder .
  • 1/2 c water .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 1/2 c walnuts, sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Step #2 Line bottom of 13"x9"x2" baking pan with wax paper.
  • Step #3 In a small saucepan, bring butter, stirring constantly, water, & cocoa to a boil, until mixture boils; then remove this from heat.
  • Step #4 In a mixing bowl, baking soda, stir this together flour, sugar, & salt; stir in the cocoa mixture.
  • Step #5 Add egg & sour cream; beat on medium speed of mixer until well mixed.
  • Step #6 Stir in nuts.
  • Step #7 Pour batter into baking pan.
  • Step #8 Bake until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean (20-22 mins).
  • Step #9 Cool 10 mins.
  • Step #10 Remove from pan to wire rack; carefully removing wax paper.
  • Step #11 Cool completely.
  • Step #12 Cut cake into small pieces (2"x1 3/4" each) (cake will be easier to cut if frozen for several hrs or up to several days before cutting).
  • Step #13 Place on cooling rack.
  • Step #14 In a small saucepan, & cocoa for glaze to a boil, water, stirring constantly, bring butter, until mixture boils; then remove this from heat.
  • Step #15 Cool slightly.
  • Step #16 Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until smooth; stir in the vanilla.
  • Step #17 Spoon glaze over top of each piece of cake, allowing it to run down the sides.
  • Step #18 Let glaze to set; then decorate with icing, if desired.
  • Step #19 Place in foil wrap c, if desired.
