Meat Cholent Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 tbsps fat .
  • 2 tsps salt .
  • 2 tbsps flour .
  • 1/4 tsp pepper .
  • 2 c dried lima beans .
  • 3 medium onions, sliced .
  • 1 c pearl barley .
  • 1/4 tsp ginger .
  • 2 tsps paprika .
  • 3 lbs beef brisket

Directions
  • Step #1 Submerge beans in water & soak overnight.
  • Step #2 Drain well.
  • Step #3 Use a heavy saucepan or Dutch oven & brown the mean & onions in the fat.
  • Step #4 Sprinkle top with salt, pepper & ginger.
  • Step #5 Add the beans & barley.
  • Step #6 Sprinkle top with the flour & paprika.
  • Step #7 Add enough boiling water to cover one inch above the mixture; Cover up tightly.
  • Step #8 Cholent may be baked for 24 hrs in an oven 250F, for quicker cooking, or, bake in a 350F oven for 4 to 5 hrs.
  • Step #9 Slice the meat & serve this with the barley & beans.
