Apple-cranberry Dumplings Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 c grated peeled apples .
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon .
  • 1 c cook cranberries or whole berry cranberry sauce .
  • 1/2 c walnuts, sliced .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 2 c sugar .
  • 1/2 c butter .
  • 1/2 tsp cloves .
  • 1/2 c shortening .
  • 1 tbsp baking powder .
  • 2 c flour .
  • 3/4 c milk .
  • 2 c water .
  • Syrup .
  • Biscuit Dough .
  • 2 tbsps sugar .
  • Filling

Directions
  • Step #1 Syrup: Combine the first 4 ingredients & boil for 5 mins.
  • Step #2 Remove from heat & add butter.
  • Step #3 Dough:.
  • Step #4 Mix dry ingredients & cut in shortening.
  • Step #5 Gradually add milk,tossing to make a soft dough.
  • Step #6 Roll out on a floured board to form 12 x 18 inch rectangle.
  • Step #7 To prepare:.
  • Step #8 Spread the dough with the apples, cranberries & nuts.
  • Step #9 Roll up like a jelly roll & cut into 1 inch slices.
  • Step #10 Place in a 9 x 13 inch pan.
  • Step #11 Pour hot syrup over all & bake in a 425F oven for 40 mins.
  • Step #12 Serve warm.
