Candy Cane Frosting Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c butter .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 c crushed peppermint candies .
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract .
  • 4 1/2 c sifted confectioners' sugar .
  • 1/3 c undiluted Carnation Evaporated Milk

Directions
  • Step #1 Mix carnation with peppermint extract & salt in medium-sized bowl.
  • Step #2 Add the confectioners' sugar (you may call it "powdered" sugar).
  • Step #3 Blend them together with a wooden spoon until smooth.
  • Step #4 When icing is smooth, add softened butter & stir well.
  • Step #5 When cake layers have cooled about 2hrs, put bottom layer on plate.
  • Step #6 Put about 1/2 c icing on layer.
  • Step #7 Spread with a spatula.
  • Step #8 Put second cake layer on top.
  • Step #9 Spread icing around sides of cake.
  • Step #10 Frost the top of the cake last.
  • Step #11 Sprinkle top crushed peppermint candy on top of cake.
