Sillsallad (herring Salad) With Dilled Sour Cream Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 (22 oz) jar pickled herring, cutlets in wine sauce drained .
  • 1/8 tsp pepper .
  • 1/4 c vinegar .
  • 1 apple, cubed .
  • 1 (16 oz) jar pickled beets, drained & cubed .
  • 2 small dill pickles, sliced (optional) .
  • 2 tbsps granulated sugar .
  • 1 c sour cream .
  • 2 tbsps milk .
  • 2 tbsps water .
  • Dilled Sour Cream .
  • 1 small onion, sliced .
  • 1/2 tsp dried dill weed .
  • 3 medium potatoes, cooked & cubed

Directions
  • Step #1 Place herring, pickles, potatoes, beets, apple & onion in glass or plastic bowl.
  • Step #2 Mix vinegar, sugar, water & pepper; pour over herring mixture.
  • Step #3 Toss lightly.
  • Step #4 Cover up & put in the fridge, stirring once or twice, at least 2 hrs.
  • Step #5 Serve with Dilled Sour Cream.
  • Step #6 Garnish with parsley & wedges of hardboiled egg if desired.
