Cranberry Cherry Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps cornstarch
  • 1 (16 oz) can whole cranberry sauce
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 c golden raisins
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
  • 6 tbsps orange juice

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large bowl, raisins, stir this together cherry pie filling, cornstarch, cranberry sauce, & ginger.
  • Step #2 Make piecrust dough, substituting orange juice for water.
  • Step #3 Divide dough 55 % / 45 %.
  • Step #4 Roll larger piece to 1 1/2 inches larger than 9 inch pie pan.
  • Step #5 Place crust in pie plate leaving one inch overhang, & brush with egg white.
  • Step #6 Spoon cherry filling into pie crust.
  • Step #7 Roll second crust to 12 inch round.
  • Step #8 Cut into 14 strips to make a lattice top.
  • Step #9 Moisten edge of bottom crust with water.
  • Step #10 Place 7 strips across pie.
  • Step #11 Do not seal ends.
  • Step #12 Fold every other strip back halfway from center.
  • Step #13 Place center cross strip on pie & replace folded part of strips.
  • Step #14 Now fold back alternate strips.
  • Step #15 Place second cross strip in place.
  • Step #16 Repeat to weave cross strips into lattice.
  • Step #17 Seal ends.
  • Step #18 Turn bottom crust edge up over ends of strips.
  • Step #19 Pinch to seal.
  • Step #20 Make high fluted edge.
  • Step #21 Brush pastry with milk, & sprinkle lightly with sugar.
  • Step #22 Bake at 400F degrees C (205 degrees C) for 50 mins, or until fruit begins to bubble & crust is golden brown.
  • Step #23 Cool pie slightly on wire rack.
