Norwegian Stuffed Onions Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c beef stock .
  • 6 large onions .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 tsp pepper .
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • 1 lb ground beef or veal

Directions
  • Step #1 Peel the onions & cut a 1/2 inch slice from the top of each.
  • Step #2 Put these aside to use for a topping.
  • Step #3 Hollow out the centers of the onions to form holes for the stuffing.
  • Step #4 Save the center of the onions & chop them fine.
  • Step #5 Melt the butter & brown the sliced onions.
  • Step #6 Add the ground meat, salt & pepper.
  • Step #7 Mix well.
  • Step #8 When the meat is browned, stuff the centers of the onions with the meat mixture.
  • Step #9 Put the top slices of the onions back on & secure them in place with toothpicks.
  • Step #10 Put the onions in a baking dish & pour the beef stock over them.
  • Step #11 Bake them at 375 degrees for 1 hr or until the onions are soft.
