Chestnuts And Prunes Recipe

Ingredients
  • salt & pepper (to taste) .
  • 1/8 tsp white pepper .
  • 1 (15 oz) can chestnuts, drained .
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • 1 (12 oz) package prunes (pitted) .
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon .
  • 1/8 tsp ground fennel .
  • 1 c ruby port .
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 Melt butter in large skillet.
  • Step #2 Add chestnuts, salt & pepper to taste & ground fennel seeds.
  • Step #3 Simmer for a few mins until heated thoroughly & set skillet aside.
  • Step #4 Place prunes in a saucepan & add port, salt, pepper & cinnamon.
  • Step #5 Cook over low heat/flame until tender, 8-10 mins.
  • Step #6 Add prunes to chestnuts, mix together carefully & let simmer 3 mins, to warm chestnuts.
