Hungarian Pot Roast Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3-4 lbs chuck roast .
  • 1 tbsp salt .
  • 3 tbsps parsley, sliced .
  • celery .
  • 1/2 c beef broth .
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce .
  • 3 tbsps bacon drippings or butter or vegetable oil .
  • 2 tbsps flour .
  • 8 oz wide egg noodles, cooked & drained .
  • 1 large onion, sliced .
  • 1/4 c flour, & .
  • 1/2 c sour cream .
  • 1/4 tsp ground pepper .
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed

Directions
  • Step #1 Mix flour, salt & pepper.
  • Step #2 Dredge meat in flour mixture.
  • Step #3 Brown meat in bacon drippings on both sides.
  • Step #4 Pour off excess drippings.
  • Step #5 Add garlic, onion, celery, broth & tomato sauce.
  • Step #6 Cover up tightly & let simmer 3 to 3-1/2 hrs or until tender.
  • Step #7 Remove roast to a heated platter.
  • Step #8 Mix in the sour cream & parsley, NEVER ALLOWING IT TO BOIL.
  • Step #9 Surround roast with noodles & pour sour cream gravy over all.
