Hungarian Dessert Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 125 g dark chocolate (grated) .
  • 1 c raisins (sliced) .
  • 1/2 c sugar .
  • 125 g sliced almonds (toasted) .
  • 2 tbsps sliced almonds (extra) .
  • 1 c cream (whipped) .
  • 12-14 crepes or pancakes .
  • 4 egg whites .
  • 3/4 c apricot jam or plum jam

Directions
  • Step #1 Place one crepe or pancake on a greased baking tray & spread with a little jam & sprinkle with chocolate.
  • Step #2 Place another pancake on top, spread with cream & sprinkle with some toasted almonds & raisins.
  • Step #3 Continue building layers until the pancakes are used up.
  • Step #4 Leave the top pancake plain.
  • Step #5 Beat egg whites to stiff peaks then add the sugar a little at a time, beating continually.
  • Step #6 Beat until the mixture is thick & glossy.
  • Step #7 Cover up the pancake stack completely with the meringue mixture.
  • Step #8 Sprinkle top with flaked almonds.
  • Step #9 Bake in a preheated very hot oven (220C - 425F) for 3 to 4 mins until the meringue is slightly browned.
