Chicago Style Pan Pizza Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp fennel seed
  • 3/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 (28 oz) can sliced tomatoes, drained
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 oz sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 2 tsps olive oil
  • 1/2 c freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 c shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 lb bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 (1 lb) loaf frozen bread dough, thawed

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Press the dough into the bottom & up the sides of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Step #3 Crumble the sausage into a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Step #4 Cook & stir until evenly browned.
  • Step #5 Remove the sausage with a slotted spoon, & sprinkle over the dough crust.
  • Step #6 Sprinkle top mozzarella cheese evenly over the sausage.
  • Step #7 Add mushrooms & onion to the skillet; cook & stir until the onion is tender.
  • Step #8 Stir in the tomatoes, oregano, salt, fennel seed & garlic powder.
  • Step #9 Spoon over the mozzarella cheese.
  • Step #10 Sprinkle top Parmesan cheese over the top.
  • Step #11 Bake for 25 to 35 mins in the preheated oven, or until crust is golden brown.
