Plums Poached In Earl Grey Tea Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c superfine sugar .
  • 1 lemon, juice of .
  • 2 earl grey tea bags .
  • 6 plums (if small leave them whole, cut larger plums in half & remove the pit) .
  • 6 c water

Directions
  • Step #1 Pour the 6 c of water into a large saucepan & bring it to a rolling boil.
  • Step #2 Remove from heat.
  • Step #3 Add the tea bags, cover & steep for 10 mins.
  • Step #4 Remove the tea bags, place the pan back over high heat & bring back to a boil.
  • Step #5 Stir in sugar & lemon juice.
  • Step #6 Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Step #7 Reduce the heat to medium low.
  • Step #8 The liquid should just be simmering, add the plums & poach until tender.
  • Step #9 The amount of time will vary from 1 min to longer depending on the size & ripeness of the fruit.
  • Step #10 Remove the plums from the liquid & set aside to cool.
  • Step #11 Continue to simmer the liquid until it is the consistency of a light syrup.
  • Step #12 To serve:.
  • Step #13 Place the plums into small dessert bowls & ladle some of the poaching liquid.
