Long Island Holiday Brisket Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c ketchup .
  • 3 carrots, peeled, cut into 1/2 inch rounds .
  • 4 onions, halved & thinly sliced .
  • 1 c dry red wine .
  • 1 (4-5 lb) beef brisket .
  • 2 celery ribs, with some leaves, sliced .
  • 1 (2 oz) package dry onion soup mix (Lipton)

Directions
  • Step #1 Mix ingredients together & put some in the bottom of a roasting pan that will fit the brisket.
  • Step #2 Put the brisket in the roasting pan, fat side up, & spoon some of the sauce on top of the meat.
  • Step #3 Cover up & bake this at 350 degrees for 4 hrs until the meat is fork tender.
  • Step #4 Remove the meat & slice against the grain.
  • Step #5 Serve with the sauce & rice.
