Dawn's Candied Walnuts Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c white sugar
  • 6 tbsps milk
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon
  • 1 lb walnut halves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Spread nuts in a single layer over a baking sheet.
  • Step #3 Roast for approximately 8 to 10 mins, or until the nuts start to turn brown & the smell of roasting nuts fills the kitchen.
  • Step #4 Stir together sugar, cinnamon, salt, & milk in a medium saucepan.
  • Step #5 Cook over medium-high heat for 8 mins, or until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage of 236 degrees F (113 degrees C).
  • Step #6 Remove from heat, & stir in the vanilla as soon as possible.
  • Step #7 .
  • Step #8 Add walnuts to sugar syrup, & stir this to coat well.
  • Step #9 Spoon nuts onto waxed paper, & as soon as possible separate nuts with a fork.
  • Step #10 Cool, & store this in airtight containers.
