Cheese Fondue With Apples Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c dry white wine
  • 3 Pink Lady apples, each cored & cut into 9 wedges
  • 1 tsp kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
  • 3/4 c (3 oz) shredded Emmenthaler or Swiss cheese
  • 1 garlic clove, halved

Directions
  • Step #1 Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring c; level with a knife.
  • Step #2 Combine flour, & nutmeg, cheese, tossing well.
  • Step #3 Rub cut sides of garlic on inside of a medium, heavy saucepan.
  • Step #4 Add broth & wine to pan; bring to a simmer over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #5 Add one-third cheese mixture to pan, stirring with a whisk until mixd.
  • Step #6 Repeat procedure with remaining cheese mixture.
  • Step #7 Reduce heat to medium-low; cook 5 mins or until smooth, stirring frequently.
  • Step #8 Remove cheese mixture from heat; stir in the kirsch.
  • Step #9 Pour mixture into a fondue pot.
  • Step #10 Keep warm over low flame.
  • Step #11 Serve with apple wedges.
