Step #1 Snap off tough ends of asparagus, & remove scales from stalks with a vegetable peeler, if desired.
Step #2 Arrange asparagus in a steamer basket over boiling water.
Step #3 Cover up & steam 4 to 6 mins or until crisp-tender.
Step #4 Remove from steamer, & cool on paper towels.
Step #5 Stir together cream cheese & next 3 ingredients.
Step #6 Roll each bread slice with a rolling pin to flatten.
Step #7 Spread 1 side of each slice with 2 tbsps cream cheese mixture; top each with 1 ham slice.
Step #8 Place 2 asparagus spears, seam side down, on 1 end of each bread slice; roll up, tips pointed toward opposite ends, & place, on a greased baking sheet.
Step #9 Brush with butter; sprinkle with paprika.
Step #10 Bake at 400° for 12 mins or until golden.
Step #11 Serve as soon as possible.
Step #12 Garnish, if desired.
Step #13 Note: Freeze unbaked rollups up to 1 month in an airtight container.
Step #14 Thaw in refrigerator, & bake as directed.
