Spicy Crab-and-ginger Salsa With Sesame Wontons Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 to 2 tsps Thai chili-garlic sauce or paste
  • 1 cucumber, peeled, seeded, & sliced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  •  Peanut oil
  • 24 wontons
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 12 oz lump crabmeat, drained & coarsely sliced
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsps sliced pickled ginger
  • 3 tbsps rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsps sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Directions
  • Step #1 Whisk together rice wine vinegar & next 5 ingredients.
  • Step #2 Stir in crabmeat & next 3 ingredients.
  • Step #3 Cover up & chill until ready to serve.
  • Step #4 Pour peanut oil to a depth of 1/2 inch into a large skillet.
  • Step #5 Fry wontons, in batches, in hot oil over medium-high heat 30 seconds on each side or until golden.
  • Step #6 Drain on paper towels; sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Step #7 Serve wontons with salsa.
  • Step #8 NOTE: Chili-garlic sauce or paste may be found in the Asian section of the supermarket or in gourmet stores.
