Fried Jalapeños Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 c beer
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  •  Vegetable oil
  • 4 oz Muenster cheese
  • 1 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 (11.5-oz) jars whole jalapeño peppers, drained
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c yellow cornmeal
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Directions
  • Step #1 Cut a small slit in each pepper, & carefully remove seeds.
  • Step #2 Rinse peppers with cold water; drain on paper towels.
  • Step #3 Cut cheese into 18 pieces; insert 1 piece into each pepper.
  • Step #4 Combine cornmeal & next 3 ingredients in a small bowl; add 1 tbsp oil & beer, stirring until smooth.
  • Step #5 Let stand 10 to 15 mins.
  • Step #6 Pour oil to depth of 3 inches into a skillet or deep fat fryer; heat to 350°.
  • Step #7 Dredge peppers in 1/2 c flour; then dip into batter.
  • Step #8 Fry 3 to 4 mins or until golden brown, turning every once in awhile.
  • Step #9 Serve as soon as possible.
