Asian Fried Crab Balls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 lb fresh crabmeat, picked
  • 2 tbsps dark soy sauce
  • 2 green onions, minced
  •  Savory Broth
  •  Radish sprouts
  •  Toasted nori strips
  •  Daikon radish, cut into thin strips
  • 1/4 c sesame seeds
  •  Vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  •  Enoki mushrooms
  • 1 large garlic clove, pressed

Directions
  • Step #1 Process first 5 ingredients in a food processor/blender 2 mins or until very smooth, stopping to scrape down sides.
  • Step #2 Transfer crab paste to a bowl, & stir in the green onions.
  • Step #3 Cover up & chill 1 hr.
  • Step #4 Form the paste into 1/2-inch balls, squeezing tightly; roll balls in sesame seeds.
  • Step #5 Place on a wax paper-covered plate in the refrigerator until ready to fry.
  • Step #6 Heat vegetable oil to 375° & heat oven to 200°.
  • Step #7 Fry crab balls, in batches (making sure oil doesn't fall below 350°), for 2 mins or until lightly browned.
  • Step #8 Drain on paper towels, & place this in oven while frying the other balls.
  • Step #9 Place a small mound of daikon radish, enoki mushrooms, & radish sprouts on one side of 6 small, warmed bowls.
  • Step #10 Arrange 3 or 4 balls in a pyramid in the bowls.
  • Step #11 Carefully ladle 2 tbsps Savory Broth around the balls; top this with nori.
  • Step #12 Serve as soon as possible.
