Country Ham-and-asparagus Tartlets Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 c yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 c finely sliced country ham
  • 3/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 18 (1-inch-long) fresh asparagus tips
  • 1/3 c whipping cream
  • 1 (3-oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 c butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c (3 oz) shredded Swiss cheese

Directions
  • Step #1 Stir together cream cheese & butter until mixed; stir in the 3/4 c flour & cornmeal.
  • Step #2 Cover up & chill 1 hr.
  • Step #3 Shape dough into 18 (1-inch) balls.
  • Step #4 Place balls into miniature muffin pans, & press evenly into bottom & up sides.
  • Step #5 Set aside.
  • Step #6 Stir together Swiss cheese & 1 tbsp flour.
  • Step #7 Whisk together egg & whipping cream; stir in the Swiss cheese mixture & sliced ham.
  • Step #8 Spoon evenly into pastry shells.
  • Step #9 Bake at 425° for 7 mins.
  • Step #10 Top each tart with an asparagus spear.
  • Step #11 Reduce oven temperature to 300°.
  • Step #12 Cover up & bake 17 mins or until set.
