Benne Seed Pita Triangles Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 1 (18-oz) package large pita bread rounds
  • 2 tbsps benne or sesame seeds
  • 6 tbsps butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 Split each pita round horizontally into 2 rounds; stack rounds, & cut into 6 wedges to make 72 triangles.
  • Step #2 Arrange triangles on baking sheets.
  • Step #3 Stir together butter & pepper.
  • Step #4 Brush mixture evenly over split sides of pita triangles.
  • Step #5 Sprinkle top evenly with benne seeds & salt.
  • Step #6 Bake at 375° for 10 to 13 mins or until golden.
  • Step #7 Note: For testing purposes only, we used Toufayan Pita Bread.
  • Step #8 Triangles may be made up to a day ahead.
  • Step #9 Store in zip-top plastic freezer bags until ready to serve.
