Seafood Cakes With Jalapeño Tartar Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  •  Jalapeño Tartar Sauce
  • 1/2 lb grouper or other lean whitefish fillets
  • 1/4 c sliced green bell pepper
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c sliced onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 c sliced celery
  • 3 c soft breadcrumbs, divided
  • 1/4 tsp dried crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 lb unpeeled, medium-size fresh shrimp
  • 2 tbsps butter or margarine
  • 1/2 lb fresh crabmeat, drained & flaked*
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tsps Worcestershire sauce

Directions
  • Step #1 Peel shrimp; devein, if desired.
  • Step #2 Arrange shrimp & grouper in a steamer basket over boiling water.
  • Step #3 Cover up & steam 10 mins or until grouper flakes easily with a fork.
  • Step #4 Cool & chop shrimp & grouper.
  • Step #5 Combine onion & next 11 ingredients; stir in the shrimp mixture, crabmeat, & 1 c breadcrumbs.
  • Step #6 Shape mixture into 12 patties;coat with remaining 2 c breadcrumbs.
  • Step #7 Cover up & chill 1 hr.
  • Step #8 Melt 2 tbsps butter in oil In a large-ish skillet over med-heat/flame; add patties, & cook 3 mins on each side or until golden.
  • Step #9 Drain on paper towels, & serve this with Jalapeno Tartar Sauce.
  • Step #10 *1 (6-oz) can lump crabmeat, drained, may be substituted for fresh crabmeat.
