Cranberry Baklava Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 (16 oz) package frozen phyllo dough, thawed
  • 1 c butter (no substitutes), melted
  • 1 1/2 c fresh or frozen cranberries, finely sliced
  • 1 1/2 c honey
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 c finely sliced walnuts

Directions
  • Step #1 Grease a 13-in.
  • Step #2 x 9-in.
  • Step #3 x 2-in.
  • Step #4 baking dish.
  • Step #5 Trim phyllo dough to fit pan.
  • Step #6 Layer six sheets of phyllo dough in dish, brushing each with butter.
  • Step #7 In a bowl, walnuts, mix the cranberries, sugar & cinnamon.
  • Step #8 Sprinkle top 1-1/4 c over top layer of phyllo.
  • Step #9 Layer & brush six sheets of dough with butter.
  • Step #10 Top with 1-1/4 c cranberry mixture.
  • Step #11 Layer & brush six more sheets of dough with butter; top this with remaining cranberry mixture.
  • Step #12 Top with the remaining dough, brushing each sheet with butter.
  • Step #13 Using a sharp knife, cut halfway through layers to make 24 pieces.
  • Step #14 Bake at 325F degrees F for 60-70 mins or until golden brown.
  • Step #15 In a small saucepan, heat the honey over low heat/flame just until warm & thin.
  • Step #16 Pour over warm baklava.
  • Step #17 Cool on a wire rack for 1 hr.
