Ingredients
1/2 lb ground chicken or turkey
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
1 tsp minced peeled gingerroot
1/2 c uncooked long-grain rice
Steamed green cabbage leaves
1/2 c minced green onions
1/2 c finely sliced mushrooms
2 tsps cornstarch
1/2 tsp dark sesame oil
Directions
Step #1 Place 1/2 c rice in a bowl; cover with water to 1 inch above rice, & let this stand 1 hr.
Step #2 Drain rice well; place rice in a shallow dish, & set aside.
Step #3 Combine chicken & next 7 ingredients (chicken through oil) In a large-ish bowl; stir well.
Step #4 Drop chicken mixture by rounded tbsps into rice, rolling to form rice-coated balls.
Step #5 Line a bamboo steamer with steamed cabbage leaves.
Step #6 Place balls 1/2 inch apart in steamer; cover with steamer lid.
Step #7 Add water to a large skillet to a depth of 1 inch; bring to a boil.
Step #8 Place steamer in skillet, & steam balls 20 mins or until rice is tender.
Step #9 Remove balls from steamer.
