Creamy Dreamy Chicken And Spirals Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 pinches ground nutmeg
  • 2 c sliced cooked chicken
  • 1/4 c butter
  • 3 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 3 c shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 c white wine
  • 2 tsps butter, melted
  • 2 c rotini pasta
  • 1 3/4 c milk
  • 10 buttery round crackers, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 tbsp spicy brown mustard
  • 2 tbsps grated Parmesan cheese

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Lightly spray a 9x13-inch pan with cooking spray & set aside.
  • Step #3 Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
  • Step #4 Add pasta & cook for 8 to 10 mins or until al dente; drain.
  • Step #5 Melt butter in a saucepan over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #6 Add flour a tbsp at a time & stir until smooth.
  • Step #7 Gradually stir in the milk.
  • Step #8 Bring to a low boil, & cook for one min, stirring constantly.
  • Step #9 Remove from heat & stir in the cheddar cheese until melted.
  • Step #10 Stir in cream cheese & until melted.
  • Step #11 Add wine, & season this with mustard, nutmeg & salt.
  • Step #12 Pour cooked noodles in pan.
  • Step #13 Layer chicken pieces over the noodles.
  • Step #14 Pour sauce over the chicken.
  • Step #15 In a small bowl, mix the cracker crumbs, parmesan cheese & butter, & sprinkle it over the sauce.
  • Step #16 Bake in preheated oven for 30 mins, or until edges of casserole are bubbling.
  • Step #17 Remove from oven, & stir this to thoroughly coat pasta & chicken & to keep top of casserole from hardening.
  • Step #18 Allow to cool for 10 mins before serving.
