Baked Dates In Cheddar-rosemary Pastry Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/3 c flour
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 2 tsps cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp minced fresh rosemary leaves
  • 3/4 c grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 c butter, chilled & cut into small pieces
  • 48 pitted Medjool dates

Directions
  • Step #1 Pulse butter, flour, cheddar, salt, rosemary, & cayenne in a food processor/blender until mixture resembles cornmeal.
  • Step #2 Add vinegar & 2 tbsp.
  • Step #3 very cold water & pulse just until mixture holds together.
  • Step #4 Lay a piece of plastic wrap on your counter & turn dough out onto it.
  • Step #5 Form dough into a 6-in.
  • Step #6 square, cover with more plastic wrap, & chill at least 1 hr.
  • Step #7 Preheat oven to 400°.
  • Step #8 Put chilled dough on a lightly floured surface & roll out into a 12-in.
  • Step #9 square.
  • Step #10 Cut square into 48 1- by 3-in.
  • Step #11 strips.
  • Step #12 Wrap each date with a pastry strip, then arrange on 2 baking sheets.
  • Step #13 Bake until pastry is light golden, about 15 mins.
  • Step #14 Serve hot.
