Bastilla Cigars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 c sliced cooked chicken
  • 1/2 (16-oz) package phyllo dough, thawed
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 c unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 c sliced almonds, ground in food processor/blender
  • 1/2 c sliced onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 c chicken broth
  • 1/4 c sliced flat-leaf parsley
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Melt 1 tbsp butter In a large-ish skillet over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #2 Add onion, & cook 10 mins or until soft & translucent.
  • Step #3 Add chicken & next 7 ingredients.
  • Step #4 Set aside.
  • Step #5 Beat broth & egg with a wire whisk until well mixed; pour this into a small skillet.
  • Step #6 Cook over med-heat/flame 2 to 3 mins, stirring constantly, until soft scrambled.
  • Step #7 Fold egg mixture into chicken mixture.
  • Step #8 Lay 1 sheet of phyllo dough on a flat surface; brush evenly with melted butter.
  • Step #9 Repeat procedure with 3 more phyllo sheets.
  • Step #10 Stack sheets, & cut in half lengthwise to form two phyllo stacks.
  • Step #11 Spoon 1/3 c filling down long edge of each phyllo stack, spreading evenly to ends.
  • Step #12 Roll up, starting with long side, & brush edges with more butter to seal.
  • Step #13 Cut roll this into 4 pieces; transfer pieces to an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Step #14 Repeat with remaining phyllo sheets, butter, & filling.
  • Step #15 Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 mins or until golden brown.
