Maryland Crab Cakes Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  •  Lemon wedges (optional)
  • 4 egg whites
  • 2 tbsps lemon juice
  • 1 lb lump crabmeat, shell pieces removed
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 tbsp 2% low-fat milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 c sliced fresh parsley
  • 1 1/3 c fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/3 c fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 c minced green onions

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine first 10 ingredients in a bowl; stir well.
  • Step #2 Divide crabmeat mixture into 8 equal portions.
  • Step #3 Place 1 1/3 c breadcrumbs in a shallow dish.
  • Step #4 Dredge crabmeat portions in breadcrumbs, shaping into patties about 3 1/2 inches wide & 1/2 inch thick.
  • Step #5 Heat 1 tablespooon oil In a large-ish nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Step #6 Add 4 patties, & cook 3 mins.
  • Step #7 Carefully turn patties over, & cook 3 mins or until golden.
  • Step #8 Repeat procedure with the remaining oil & patties.
  • Step #9 Serve with lemon wedges, if desired.
