Beer-battered Sardines With Wasabi Mayonnaise Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c mayonnaise
  • 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1/4 c butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tbsps wasabi powder
  • 1/2 c beer
  • 16 fresh sardines, dressed
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  •  Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c cornstarch

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine first 3 ingredients in a bowl.
  • Step #2 Add beer, butter, & egg yolks, stirring mixture until smooth.
  • Step #3 Pour oil to depth of 2 inches into a Dutch oven; heat oil to 375°.
  • Step #4 Dip sardines into batter; fry, a few at a time, 2 mins or until golden.
  • Step #5 Drain well.
  • Step #6 Stir together wasabi powder & 1 tbsp water; stir in the mayonnaise.
  • Step #7 Serve with sardines.
