Chocolate Mocha Cakei Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 c strong, hot, brewed coffee
  • 1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 c white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsps baking soda
  • 3/4 c shortening

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Grease & flour two 9 inch round cake pans.
  • Step #3 Cream the sugar & the shortening together until light.
  • Step #4 Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.
  • Step #5 Sift the flour, baking soda, salt, & baking powder together.
  • Step #6 Set aside.
  • Step #7 Mix coffee & cocoa together until smooth.
  • Step #8 Add alternately with the flour mixture to the creamed mixture.
  • Step #9 Beat for 2 mins then pour batter into the prepared pans.
  • Step #10 Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 35 mins.
  • Step #11 Frost when cooled.
