Ingredients
  • 1 c sliced walnuts
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 2 c sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 c white sugar
  • 1 c shortening
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine dry ingredients.
  • Step #2 Cream sugar, shortening, egg & vanilla.
  • Step #3 Mix dry ingredients into creamed mixture & mix in nuts.
  • Step #4 Roll into balls, place on cookie sheet & flatten with a fork.
  • Step #5 Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 to 12 mins.
