Kringlor (twists) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 hard-cooked large egg yolks
  • 1/3 c pearl or coarse decorating sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  •  Soy-Sesame Dipping Sauce
  • 1 c (1/2 lb.) butter or margarine, at about room temp
  • 1 large egg, separated
  • 3 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 c granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg

Directions
  • Step #1 In a bowl, with a mixer on high speed, beat butter & granulated sugar until fluffy.
  • Step #2 Add hard-cooked egg yolks, uncooked egg yolk, uncooked whole egg, & salt; beat on medium speed until mixed.
  • Step #3 Stir in flour, then beat until well mixed.
  • Step #4 Shape dough into 1-inch balls; cover with plastic wrap.
  • Step #5 On a lightly floured board, roll each ball under your palm into a 6-inch-long rope.
  • Step #6 On a 12- by 15-inch baking sheet (you'll need 3 total), twist each rope into a figure eight & press ends lightly together; space twists about 1 inch apart.
  • Step #7 Beat remaining egg white to mix; lightly brush over twists.
  • Step #8 Sprinkle top with pearl sugar.
  • Step #9 Bake in a 350º oven until twists are golden brown, about 20 mins (16 to 18 mins in a 325° convection oven).
  • Step #10 If using 1 oven, switch pan positions after 10 mins.
  • Step #11 With a wide spatula, transfer twists to racks to cool.
  • Step #12 Serve warm or cool.
