Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 c white sugar
  • 1/2 c milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 c shortening
  • 2/3 c peanut butter
  • 1 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2/3 c confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 c milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c butter, softened
  • 3/4 c frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 c peanut butter
  •  

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 325F degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  • Step #3 In a medium bowl, white sugar, brown sugar, mix together the butter, 1/2 c peanut butter, egg & 1 tsp of vanilla until smooth.
  • Step #4 Combine the flour, baking soda & salt; stir into the sugar mixture.
  • Step #5 Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Step #6 Bake for 20 mins in the preheated oven, until firm.
  • Step #7 Remove from the oven & sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  • Step #8 Let stand for a min, then spread the chips to form a layer.
  • Step #9 To make the topping, mix together the 2/3 c peanut butter, confectioners' sugar & shortening.
  • Step #10 Gradually stir in the the milk & 1 tsp vanilla.
  • Step #11 Gently mix in the whipped topping.
  • Step #12 Chill.
  • Step #13 When brownies & topping are both cooled, spread topping onto brownies & cut into bars.
