Print Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c crumbled goat cheese (about 3 oz)
  • 1 1/2 tbsps balsamic vinegar
  • 24 small fresh black figs, halved lengthwise

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 350°.
  • Step #2 Arrange the figs on a baking sheet, cut sides up.
  • Step #3 Spoon a little goat cheese on each fig half & lightly brush the figs with the vinegar.
  • Step #4 Bake for about 8 mins, or until the figs are warmed through.
  • Step #5 Transfer the figs to a platter & serve as soon as possible.
  • Step #6 Wine Recommendation: Stuckey: The dry-style 1997 Zind-Humbrecht Wintzenheim Gewürztraminer from Alsace has a tangy, exotic fruit edge, which pairs well with the pure fruit of the figs & the tart goat cheese.
  • Step #7 Triffon: The ripe fruit, tangy cheese & deep balsamic flavor are nicely offset by the 1997 Scherer Tokay-Pinot Gris Vielles Vignes from Alsace; it has a whisper of sweetness & excellent acidity.
