Chocolate Almond Sheet Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c baking cocoa
  • FROSTING:
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c baking cocoa
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 c water
  • 2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c milk
  • 3 c confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c butter or margarine

Directions
  • Step #1 In a saucepan over med-heat/flame, bring butter, water & cocoa to boil.
  • Step #2 Remove from the heat & cool to about room temp.
  • Step #3 In a mixing bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking soda & salt.
  • Step #4 Beat in cocoa mixture.
  • Step #5 Add eggs, buttermilk & extracts; mix well.
  • Step #6 Pour into a greased 15-in.
  • Step #7 x 10-in.
  • Step #8 x 1-in.
  • Step #9 baking pan.
  • Step #10 Bake at 375 degrees F for 20-22 mins or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Step #11 Cool for 10 mins.
  • Step #12 Meanwhile, for frosting, place butter & milk in a saucepan.
  • Step #13 Cook & stir over med-heat/flame until butter is melted.
  • Step #14 Remove from the heat; add in the remaining ingredients & beat well.
  • Step #15 Carefully spread over warm cake.
  • Step #16 Cool.
