Algerian Stuffed Dates Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 drops green food coloring (optional)
  • 2/3 c marzipan (almond paste)
  • 2 tsps powdered sugar
  • 24 Medjool dates (about 1 lb)

Directions
  • Step #1 Cut a lengthwise slit down the center, but not through, each date; remove seeds.
  • Step #2 Sprinkle top food coloring over marzipan, if desired; carefully knead 4 to 5 times or until color is incorporated into marzipan.
  • Step #3 Divide marzipan mixture evenly among dates; stuff into slits.
  • Step #4 Sprinkle top with powdered sugar.
