Citrus Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps grated orange peel
  • 5 tsps all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp grated lemon peel
  • 1 Pastry for double-crust pie (9 inches)
  • 4 c shredded & peeled tart apples
  • 1/4 c orange juice

Directions
  • Step #1 Line a 9-in.
  • Step #2 pie plate with bottom pastry; trim pastry even with edge of plate.
  • Step #3 In a bowl, mix the sugar, flour, & orange & lemon peel.
  • Step #4 Stir in juices.
  • Step #5 Add apples & toss to coat.
  • Step #6 Stir in eggs.
  • Step #7 Pour into crust.
  • Step #8 Roll out remaining pastry; make a lattice crust.
  • Step #9 Seal & flute edges.
  • Step #10 Cover edges loosely with foil.
  • Step #11 Bake at 450 degrees F for 15 mins.
  • Step #12 Remove foil; reduce heat to 350 degrees F.
  • Step #13 Bake 30-35 mins longer or until crust is golden brown & filling is bubbly.
  • Step #14 Cool on a wire rack.
