Chocolate Chip Apple Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsps unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 c white sugar
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 c apples - peeled, cored & finely sliced
  • 1 c semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 c butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c water

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 325F degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Grease & flour one 9 or 10 inch tube pan.
  • Step #3 In a large bowl cream the butter or margarine with the sugar.
  • Step #4 Beat in the eggs then add the water & the vanilla.
  • Step #5 Stir the flour, cocoa, baking soda, ground cinnamon & ground nutmeg together.
  • Step #6 Beat this mixture into the creamed mixture.
  • Step #7 Stir in the sliced apples & the semisweet chocolate chips.
  • Step #8 Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Step #9 Bake at 325F degrees F (165 degrees C) for 1 hr & 15 mins or until the cake tests done when a toothpick is inserted near the center.
  • Step #10 Transfer to a rack to cool.
  • Step #11 Makes about 16 servings.
