Sawmill Gravy Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 1/4 c milk
  • 1/2 lb ground pork sausage
  • 1/3 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 c butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp dried Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 3/4 tsp pepper

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook sausage In a large-ish skillet over med-heat/flame, stirring until it crumbles & is no longer pink.
  • Step #2 Remove sausage, & drain on paper towels.
  • Step #3 Wipe skillet clean.
  • Step #4 Melt butter in skillet over low heat/flame.
  • Step #5 Whisk in flour until smooth.
  • Step #6 Cook, whisking constantly, 1 min.
  • Step #7 Gradually whisk in milk, whisking constantly, & cook, over med-heat/flame about 10 to 12 mins or until thickened & bubbly.
  • Step #8 Stir in sausage, if desired, pepper, and, salt, Italian seasoning.
