Hanukkah Doughnuts With Strawberry Preserves Recipe

Ingredients
  •  Strawberry preserves
  • 1 c water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  •  Crème Fraîche
  •  Powdered sugar
  • 1/2 c butter or margarine
  • 1 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  •  Vegetable oil

Directions
  • Step #1 Bring 1 c water, butter, & sugar to a boil in a heavy saucepan.
  • Step #2 Add flour, whisking constantly, & cook, 3 to 4 mins or until mixture thickens.
  • Step #3 Remove from heat; cool.
  • Step #4 Spoon mixture into a mixing bowl.
  • Step #5 Beat in eggs, at medium speed with an electric mixer, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Step #6 Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  • Step #7 Pat dough to 1/8-inch thickness, & cut dough with star- or dreidel-shaped cookie cutters.
  • Step #8 Pour oil to depth of 1/2 inch; heat to 375°.
  • Step #9 Fry doughnuts, in batches, 3 to 4 mins on each side or until golden.
  • Step #10 Drain on paper towels.
  • Step #11 Sprinkle top with powdered sugar.
  • Step #12 Microwave preserves in a glass bowl at HIGH 1 to 2 mins or until thoroughly heated, stirring once.
  • Step #13 Serve doughnuts with preserves & Crème Fraîche.
