Brie-and-sausage Breakfast Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 c fat-free milk
  • 1 c grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 c whipping cream, divided
  • 6 white bread slices
  • 7 large eggs, divided
  • 1 lb ground hot pork sausage
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 tbsp sliced fresh or 1 tsp dried rubbed sage
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  •  Garnish: sliced green onions
  • 1 (8-oz) round Brie*

Directions
  • Step #1 Trim & discard rind from top of Brie.
  • Step #2 Cut cheese into cubes; set aside.
  • Step #3 Cook sausage In a large-ish skillet over medium-high heat, stirring until crumbled & no longer pink; drain well.
  • Step #4 Cut crusts from bread slices, & place crusts evenly in bottom of a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish.
  • Step #5 Layer evenly with bread slices, sausage, Brie, & grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Step #6 Whisk together 5 eggs, 2 c whipping cream, & next 4 ingredients; pour evenly over cheeses.
  • Step #7 Cover up & chill 8 hrs.
  • Step #8 Whisk together remaining 2 eggs & 1 c whipping cream; pour evenly over chilled mixture.
  • Step #9 Bake at 350° for 50 mins or until set.
  • Step #10 Garnish, if desired.
  • Step #11 *Substitute 2 c (8 oz) shredded Swiss cheese, if desired.
