Broccoli-sausage Calzones Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 c (1 oz) shredded sharp provolone cheese
  •  Olive oil-flavored cooking spray
  • 1/2 c part-skim ricotta cheese
  • 2/3 c (about 3 1/2 oz) sliced chicken & sun-dried tomato sausage (such as Gerhard's)
  • 1 (10-oz) can put in the fridged pizza crust dough
  • 2/3 c sliced broccoli florets

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Step #2 Steam broccoli, covered, 3 mins or until tender.
  • Step #3 Combine broccoli, provolone, sausage, ricotta, & black pepper in a bowl.
  • Step #4 Divide pizza dough into 4 equal portions on a lightly floured surface; cover & let rest for 10 mins.
  • Step #5 Shape each piece into a ball.
  • Step #6 Roll each ball into a 6-inch circle.
  • Step #7 Place about 1/3 c sausage mixture on half of each circle, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
  • Step #8 Fold the pizza dough over the sausage mixture until the edges almost meet.
  • Step #9 Bring the bottom edge over the top edge; crimp edges of dough with fingers to form a rim.
  • Step #10 Place the calzones on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
  • Step #11 Pierce tops with a fork.
  • Step #12 Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
  • Step #13 Bake at 350° for 35 mins or until golden brown.
