Cheese Grits Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp butter or stick margarine
  • 4 c water
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 c uncooked quick-cooking grits
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsps garlic powder
  • 1 c (4 oz) shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese

Directions
  • Step #1 Bring the water to a boil in a medium saucepan, & slowly add the grits, stirring constantly.
  • Step #2 Cover up, reduce heat to low, & let simmer for 5 mins or until thick, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #3 Remove grits from heat, & stir in the the shredded cheese & remaining ingredients.
