Cheesy Sausage Quiche Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs, lightly beaten*
  • 1/4 c (1 oz.) shredded 2% reduced-fat sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (12-oz.) package lean ground pork sausage
  • 1/2 c fat-free milk
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 c sliced onion (1 small onion)
  •  Vegetable cooking spray
  • 8 egg whites, lightly beaten*
  • 1 (8-oz.) package sliced fresh mushrooms

Directions
  • Step #1 Sauté mushrooms & onion in a nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat 8 mins or until onion is tender.
  • Step #2 Remove from skillet, & place this In a large-ish bowl.
  • Step #3 Cook sausage in skillet 8 mins or until sausage crumbles & is no longer pink; drain well on paper towels.
  • Step #4 Stir together sausage, eggs, & next 4 ingredients with mushroom mixture in bowl.
  • Step #5 Pour mixture into a 10-inch quiche dish or deep-dish pieplate coated with cooking spray.
  • Step #6 Bake at 350° for 30 mins or until set.
  • Step #7 Let stand 5 mins before serving.
  • Step #8 Slice into 8 wedges.
  • Step #9 * One (1-pt.
  • Step #10 ) container of egg substitute may be substituted for the 4 whole eggs & 8 egg whites.
