Apple-cinnamon Granola Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c honey
  • 3 c regular oats
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 2 tbsps brown sugar
  • 1/3 c oat bran
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 1 c sliced dried apple
  •  Cooking spray
  • 1/3 c finely sliced walnuts
  • 1 c whole-grain toasted oat cereal (such as Cheerios)
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 c applesauce

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 250°.
  • Step #2 Combine first 6 ingredients In a large-ish bowl, stirring well to mix.
  • Step #3 Melt 2 tbsps butter in a medium saucepan over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #4 Add 1/3 c applesauce, & brown sugar to pan, honey, & bring to a boil.
  • Step #5 Cook for 1 min, stirring frequently.
  • Step #6 Pour applesauce mixture over oat mixture, stirring to coat.
  • Step #7 Spread mixture in an even layer on a jelly-roll pan coated with cooking spray.
  • Step #8 Bake at 250° for 1 1/2 hrs, stirring every 30 mins.
  • Step #9 Allow to cool completely.
  • Step #10 Stir in sliced apple.
  • Step #11 Note: Store granola in an airtight container up to one week.
