Ingredients
3 tbsps vegetable oil, divided
1 tsp salt
1 medium onion, sliced
8 American cheese slices
1/2 tsp pepper
1 (16-oz) package frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
Directions
Step #1 Sauté onion in 1 tbsp hot vegetable oil over med-heat/flame 8 mins or until tender.
Step #2 Stir together onion, salt, hash browns, & pepper In a large-ish bowl.
Step #3 Heat 1 tbsp oil In a large-ish non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Step #4 Drop hash brown mixture into 3 1/2-inch rounds.
Step #5 Cook, 5 mins on each side, or until lightly browned, in batches, adding remaining oil as necessary.
Step #6 Press down with a spatula to flatten; top each round with a cheese slice.
Step #7 Cook 5 mins.
